Lik Hang Tsui

Lik Hang Tsui had been a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University with the China Biographical Database (CBDB), and will be joining Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology at Hong Kong Baptist University as a Research Assistant Professor. A researcher and teacher of Chinese history, he holds a doctoral degree from the University of Oxford and had taught as a Departmental Lecturer there. Lik Hang’s dissertation on letter writing and literati communication in middle period China was awarded the “Most Accessible and Captivating Work for the Non-Specialist Reader Accolade” by the International Convention of Asia Scholars. He has also been awarded a Rhodes Scholarship, and fellowships from the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica and the Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange. Lik Hang has recently taught a seminar course in digital humanities as a visiting scholar at Peking University. He has published articles on digital humanities, Chinese epistolary culture, literati culture in Song China, and urban history. An Elected Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society, Lik Hang is also the co-founder and editor of 01Lab, a Wechat official account for disseminating and generating digital humanities knowledge in China. While working with CBDB, he has participated in its projects on Tang prosopography and the Digging into Data Challenge. He has recently received a digital humanities research project grant from the University Town Library of Shenzhen to track how researchers make use of historical data in CBDB.
