My project employs digital tools to analyze and reconstruct graphic timelines from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Building on earlier research from my book with Anthony Grafton, Cartographies of Time, this work examines the relationship between chronographic and geographic mapping, systems of chronological projection, the relationship between art and algorithm, and the epistemological force of graphic representation.
