Since its inception in 2011, Department I of the MPIWG has been a founding member of the Berliner Antike-Kolleg (BAK), a cooperation project of Berlin’s six major institutions on research on the ancient world. In particular, it is involved in the organization of the Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Sciences (BerGSAS).
The Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS) is home to five doctoral programs located at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
