Eugenia You-Ching Lao

Dr.

Eugenia Lao teaches at the University of Maryland at College Park and at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. A specialist on Pliny the Elder, she obtained her PhD in 2008 from Princeton University in classical philology. From 2007–2012, Eugenia Lao taught as Assistant Professor of Classics at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. Her current research is on the role of empathy in the epistemology of healing in Greek medicine, and on ambiguous categories in natural scientific literature of the early Roman empire. Her teaching focuses on Latin prose, classical myth, and ancient medicine.
