The MPIWG has decided to delete its account on the social media site X (formerly Twitter).

The move to leave X was made on the basis of the platform’s increasing amplification of right-wing extremist positions and influence on politics and election campaigns; restrictions on reach that mean that the platform no longer serves as an effective means of engaging with the MPIWG’s target audiences; and that other social media channels, including BlueSky, are proving to be suitable alternatives for reaching the Institute’s audiences.

The decision was made in consultation with Institute researchers and staff through an internal lunchtime discussion meeting on social media and via engagement with ongoing wider dialogue on the use of X by academic institutes.
