This Opening Symposium will focus on welcoming new members and guests of the department, introducing our current research projects, and discussing some organizational matters. Lunch will be provided. As part of the symposium, we are also hosting a discussion of oral history methods that is open to the Institute as a whole (led by Jesse Olszynko-Gryn and Alfred Freeborn).

As part of the Oral History Practitioners’ Meeting, we will discuss what oral histories or research interviews members of the MPIWG have carried out in the past, what oral histories or research interviews scholars are planning on conducting while at the MPIWG, and whether scholars use online oral history collections as part of their research, and if so, which ones.
