Conversations on Quantum Gravity
- 14:00 to 16:00
- Seminar
- Max Planck Research Group (Final Theory Program)
- Jácome Armas
Our guest speaker Jácome Armas from the University of Amsterdam will speak about his book “Conversations on Quantum Gravity” published in 2021 in Cambridge University Press. He will provide a kind of catalogue of ideas that people consider useful and important in a theory of quantum gravity and how those ideas relate to different approaches to quantum gravity. He will then focus on specific debates, in an attempt to highlight some of the shortcomings of given approaches and discuss how proponents of different theories are currently thinking about their own field and their/other approaches to quantum gravity.

About This Series
The seminar series of the Research Group “Historical Epistemology of the Final Theory Program” runs once a month, usually on a Monday at 14:00 in the seminar room of the Villa (Harnackstraße 5). The talks deal primarily with the history, philosophy, and foundations of modern (post-WWII) physics or with wider epistemological questions related to the work of the group. There are no pre-circulated papers.
