Olivier Defaux studied Ancient History and Archaeology at the University Lumière Lyon 2 before obtaining his PhD in History of Ancient Sciences in 2016 at the Excellence Cluster Topoi and at the Humboldt University in Berlin. His dissertation deals with the origins of Ptolemy’s map of the Iberian Peninsula. From February to July 2016 he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Excellence Cluster Topoi. Olivier’s current MPIWG research deals with the transmission and the history of antique scientific texts, such as Ptolemy’s Geography, investigated with the tools of computational humanities.
