Francesca Fiaschetti works in the fields of sinology and Mongolian studies. She focuses on political ideology, processes of identity-building, and cultural interactions between Han and non-Han Empires, and specializes in the Mongol Yuan dynasty. Her current research analyses the use of diplomacy in order to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and goods, as well as artisans and scholars between the Yuan Khanate and the neighboring regions in Southeast Asia.
She holds a PhD in Sinology from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and is currently a Research Fellow at the Martin Buber Society of Fellows at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
