Michael Pettit's research focuses on the history and public understanding of the human sciences. He is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at York University. In 2006, he received his PhD in History from the University of Toronto for a dissertation on deception and its detection.
He has published over a dozen articles, appearing in journals such as The American Historical Review, Isis, Social Studies of Science, among other venues. The University of Chicago Press published his first book The Science of Deception in 2013. His current research looks at the role of animal models in the scientific study of the relationship between hormones and behavior. He is also writing a general history of psychology since the 1960s.
